Public House No 7 Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Friendly staff, generous proportions, a bit overpriced, could stand to expand the menu to include other pub favorites

It looks right, but all British charm ends there. It's like being in Disneyland where they put so much money into the look but none of it is authentic. There was no cider on tap (although the website menu indicates there is) and thus no half-pints available. When I tried to discuss this with the well-meaning and new waitress, she kept talking about beer -- which is not cider. The food is pretty awful. The breading on the fish and chips came off upon cutting into it and was doughy and soggy. The chips are pedestrian without much reference to British chips, although there is vinegar on the tables. Apple crumble was a soggy mess. Not a bad place if you just want a simulated British pub and stick with ale I suppose. I won't go back anytime soon.

nice addition to this area. the atmosphere inside is pretty cool. they have a main dining area, and then a large bar and high top table area in the back for more casual drinking/dining. it (obviously) has an english pub vibe, with cool pics and paraphernalia on the walls. also a good crowd of people. this is the kind of bar where you talk to the people sitting next to you. very friendly staff as well. you don't normally have that in nova. decent beer selection. i had some seasonal sam's and my hubby had a brown ale that he liked. now, as for food.....we did the chips with cheese, sour cream and salt beef to start. super good. chips obv homemade. i could have eaten the whole thing but i stopped myself so i'd have room for my main course. i had a burger which was great. again, obv not a frozen burger. fries were good, too. hubby had the roast beef dinner which he loved. he was practically licking his plate. they also apparently have specials on certain days where they do bbq (pulled pork, ribs, etc) which is supposed to be fab. we will def be back!!

I come to Public House No. 7 for lunch and a beer or two or three and i must say that I love the look of the bar! it also has great atmosphere and the service was great. I love that they have boddingtons on tap and they seem to have an interesting selection of beer that I just can't find anywhere. Now i guess i have to be able to comment on the negatives as well I had the welsh rabbit appetizer and thought it was simple and good but the fish and chips left something to be desired. the chips were fine could use some salt but the batter on the fish had no taste. Even after adding malt vinegar I still found it lacked taste. Some might say its as close to authentic that you might find in the area but I dont think authentic means it is good. I find that the fish and chips at Ireland's Four Provinces down the street gives not only the authentic feel but also the flavor needed to make a great dish.

Definitely an upgrade from Brinkley's. Staff were very friendly. Well-poured Guinness. The steak and Guinness pie was piping hot and filling. In all, quite good. The only downsides are limited parking spaces in the lot and the price for one course, 2 beers, and tip was a little high for the value at $28.

Came for drinks with a friend. U2/Billy Idol cover band was great! Didn't try the food, but it was a fun place to have a few pints.

As a vegetarian, I was not expecting to like this place! I gave it a shot because of the outdoor seating. It was a Sunday, so the place wasn't extremely busy. We were first greeted by someone who seemed almost confused as to why we walked in the door. After convincing him to let us sit outside (where I was shocked nobody was seated because it was a beautiful spring day), we we greeted by our waiter. He was extremely nice but looked almost too young to serve alcohol. That's probably why he was mostly clueless about their beer list, but I'm not going to blame a young guy for that. I got their Ultimate Vegetarian Wrap, and it was really delicious. There was a bit too much Caesar dressing for me, but maybe not for most people. Their fries were amazing. I literally ate every bite on my plate even though the portion was pretty large. I am usually shocked to find a restaurant in this area that has good food and decent prices, and to find that place just by chance on a Sunday made it that much better. I guess I need to leave the District more often...

We ate at Public House No.7 on Saturday 01/08/10. We arrived at 6:10 PM and were seated immediately. Our waitress did not come to our table until 6:40 PM as she was busy waiting on other people who arrived after us. When she took our drink order, we asked about one of the selections and she couldn't describe it. When our drinks did not arrive in a reasonable amount of time, I motioned the hostess over and told her that we were not being served well. Or waitress told us that the bar had lost our drink order. We finally ordered our meal -- one order of fish & chips and two orders of Lancashire hot pot. The fish & chips were fine. My hot pot was overcooked and boiled almost dry. We had to flag our waitress down to get a second round of drinks. Then, we finally got the check. She asked us if we had a pen since she couldn't find one. From beginning to end, this was a very poor dining experience. When you add the blast of cold air that came in every time the door was opened, it made for a miserable evening. We will not return any time soon.

This place makes you feel like your at home. Friendly service and great food. I have been going here since August and have loved every minute of it. From the fireplace and tv outside tithe British decor this is the place to be. The only issue for me us the distance since I live in Sterling and they are in 7 Corners but this is the closest British Pub I can find in the area so yet again I think it is worth the trip. Have brought friends and family and they all have had good time. In addition always something to do from live music to quiz night. The ale is about what you would pay across the pond with a tiny shipping fee built in, but to drink Fuller's Ales and the such I think a little extra is well worth it. Have a great variety of English ales!! The food is also very good. Have a variety from prawn cocktail to curry to fish and chips, something for everyone. The staff is also attentive and friendly. They will also work with you fix any issue (never had any) and to make your visit enjoyable.

Head straight to the rear for the pub section! It's the classic British pub set up. Tv's available at every angle. Usual Brit beers on tap and full bar. Food is good but nothing spectacular. Service has improved over the years. There's a great outdoor seating area as well. Great owner who listens to patrons ideas. Just a fun place to meet up and watch the EPL. Park in the rear off route 7. Live music in the evenings.

Good neighborhood bar that serves a more mature crowd (not a bunch of drunk 20 somethings). Decent food with a variety from bar food to dinner. I would prefer a bigger selection of beer with more craft beers in the lineup, but it's not bad either. Fun environment with British decor.

Let's take a close look at Public House #7. Start with the fare---the fish, in the fish and chips is very high quality. Not the crap most chain sit-down restaurant's serve. I love it ... but a native of the U.K. said PH7 has the best she has partaken in U.S. ever. I can't resist the Shepherds Pie. The real deal, try it that's all I am going to comment. The bar is a traditional English pub with plenty of on-tap beers and my favorite cider "Strongbow". Boddingtons (English) Fullers ESB (English) Newcastle Brown Ale (English) Blue Moon Dales Pale Ale Guinness "Loose Cannon" Heavy Seas Miller Lite Stella Artois Strongbow Cider Hob Goblin This is a fun place to unwind after a long day at work. If you like to sit and enjoy music they have fine local acts including bands and solo guitar acts. I do have a biased as my ensemble " The New Dominion Band" plays at PH7 every other month. We include a fair share of British Invasion tunes to match the atmosphere. Nice stage lighting and a dance floor. Excellent wait staff and the owners are on hand to meet and greet.

I understand its under new ownership. Hopefully they make some changes. This area need a good local pub/bar. BTW, I only think I ever met 1 English person in there. Not sure where the British theme came from....

We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere when dining here a while back, can't remember what we had, but everything was great. The only downside for me, they have this patio I wanted to sit in because it was a nice sunny day, but there was a lot of smoking going on, so we sat inside. Different municipalities/states have varying rules on smoking at restaurants, guess I got spoiled by the places where a non-smoker could enjoy sitting outside and have good food and beer. Staff were excellent, one of the owners came by to talk to us, very friendly place. We'll be back.

The Food was Very Good but you'd be better off getting it To Go. The Kitchen is run very well and the food showed it. We overheard that the owner STOLE TIPS regularly and that is why they just can't get the whole restaurant together.... What a Shame! SHAME! SHAME! SHAME! UNBELIEVABLY my credit Card was also improperly charged a Large TIP. When I finally got to speak to the "Correct" owner after days of trying "Brian" told me that it was my Bank that was untrustworthy and I had to deal with them.... PayPal is Untrustworthy???? WTF LMAO! Paypal fixed it in 2 Minutes. Beer in the Bottle is the safest thing to drink there. You Can Trust Me!

The atmosphere is fine if you're social and able to get along with random people over the bar or even shady people if you happen to visit at a late hour. It is overall good with friendly people and staff, drinks and food gets the 4 star. I only have an issue with the fish n chips, they taste wonderful don't get me wrong but the consistency of the batter and size of the served plate doesn't appear to be the same everytime I show up here. I once got two pieces of thick cods, today I received a single piece of fish. Anyway, live music in the house Friday, Saturday and I beleive Sunday too. Friday to my knowledge is the open mic Kareoke. Have a blast.

Great neighborhood bar for drinks. But don't eat the food! Yuck. Suggest Clare and Dons or Pistones if you want quality and edible food The food at public house is just gross. Felt sick after eating it bc I was hungry on two occassions and can't believe I paid unreasonable price for the crap. But they do have some good bands on sat so enjoy but stick with the drinks

We stopped in here on a Saturday night to grab some grub and drinks. The place is a little weird. The pub is in the back and there is a family dining room in the front but really no signage directing you. The family dining room was empty when we went in except for one family and the dining area looked right into the kitchen so it was all a little off-putting. Plus there was no hostess or waitstaff in the vicinity so there was really no clue as to what is going on... We wandered down a narrow hall past the bathrooms and found the bar. This was like a whole different world! We were immediately greeted by a server and offered food and drink menus. The place was busy but not super packed and we easily placed or food and drink orders. My husband ordered fish and chips and was happy with a crispy dish of food accompanied by house-made tartar sauce. I got a chicken sandwich and salad with house-made red wine vinaigrette. All food was fresh and tasty and not too expensive. The alcohol selection was good, I got cider (but no Magners, sadly) and my husband selected from good beer selection.

Great atmosphere. The Mac and cheese+ bacon is the best I've ever had! Check this place out when live music is happening - so much fun!

The place itself wasn't bad and I liked the traditional English menu. When it first opened, I tried the welsh rabbit, which was tasty. However, I went for pub quiz one night and doubt I'll be back for THAT any time soon. First of all, the pq itself is poorly run. My group and I noticed several people on their cell phones looking up answers without consequences and many of the questions were put online so that people knew the answers in advance. It was disappointing, to say the least. The half priced burgers were a nice idea but the build your own burger bar was underwhelming. It was dirty and sticky and I felt gross touching the tongs that 800 other people touched that night. I will definitely give this place another shot because the concept is admirable and the staff is pleasant...just maybe not on a night when they have pub quiz.

I have to start my review by saying my husband loves this place. On Fathers Day I promised my husband he could go anywhere he wanted, lunch or dinner. He picks this place and off we went. It was rather quiet in there - we sat in the front and were one of only two tables occupied while we were there. We had onion rings to start and they were fabulous. Large and crispy, you could eat them with nothing on them. I got the burger and fries and the burger was cooked well, fresh toppings (lettuce and onion, I don't do tomato). The fries were typical pub fries. I asked for honey mustard for my burger and it was fabulous. So much so that I think next time we go I would get a chicken wrap and ask for honey mustard. My husband had the pork pie. He said he was a little disappointed that it did not come with the Branston pickle as promised on the menu. He had two different beers (Boddingtons and Fullers) and enjoyed them both. Note: the online menu is out of date. I went in hoping to get buffalo chicken, but they don't serve it anymore. Minus one star for that, and for my husband's botched plate. But we will definitely be back.

Great fish and chips, and love that they serve English Breakfast and Sunday Roast Beef Dinner. Ask for the soup of the day -- usually a good choice. It does seem like they are understaffed, but the waiters do their best (there just need to be more of them).

Went here for the first time a few nights ago on a date. We specifically went on a Tuesday so we could partake in the trivia night. The pub part is far bigger than the space in the front -- make sure you find the hallway and walk to the back! The front of the house just looks sad. The back is where all the fun is! It was pretty crowded but it was because most people there were playing trivia and you could tell these people came ever week. We still managed to get a table. The food was decent (we each got a sandwich and fries). We were happy with the drink selection, as we weren't there to specifically try British ales or anything of that nature. Trivia was a lot of fun. The waitress was fantastic, making sure to come often, but not to often, and not in the middle of a question being asked. I also noticed the manager (maybe owner?) walk around a few times and make sure people were enjoying themselves. While this wasn't the BEST pub/bar I've ever been too, my date and I agreed we would definitely go back.

The food and drinks are the same as always, but service has slipped significantly since my last review. The last 4 times we have gone, it has been a struggle to get served, waiting 15 minutes to get the first round. Impossible to get refills. Forgetting our orders. Had to beg for a menu. All around crappy service and the drinks have seemed to slip too. Where did all our wonderful servers go? It seems like other people have had the same experience because it's DEAD. Barely a soul on a Friday or Saturday night. This went from our go-to place to a place we dread going. I don't think we will be back. EDIT: Went back again Friday night even though I swore we wouldn't. Kareoke just isn't how it used to be. The waitress was surly when taking our food order. She seemed insulted when someone in my party asked if they were serving dessert. And informed us after taking our orders that "Ummm just to let you guys know...The lady in the kitchen doesn't speak English so if your orders aren't right sorry." WAHHH! Now it's dropped from two stars to one. Find a different staff fast because this baby is sinking.

I've been wanting to stop by for a while now and finally did today. Glad I made it in for some good pub grub. I tried both the Bangers&Mash and the Fish&Chips. I'd recommend either to anyone. The atmosphere is neat and I'd recommend anyone in the area to try it out. A nice change of scenery compared to all the Arlington bars.

Delicious shepherd's pie and very friendly service. I thought the fish and chips were lackluster and the batter was overly fried and dry. Chips are the frozen type.

I went here for a pub quiz, which was fun. I'm going with two stars because of our server. When we arrived we asked "are there any specials?" Waitress: "no". Order glass of wine. Glass of wine is finished. Waitress: "Can I get you another? Wine is actually half off until ten. Sorry, I didn't realize that earlier when you asked about specials." Fine, order another and get the check. Us: "You said the wine was half-off but it's listed as full price, can you adjust it?" Waitress: "Sorry, I was wrong, there actually weren't any specials, that's the price." Really?!

A girlfriend picked this place out to try. I'm all for going out to try a new place and exploring different type of foods that I don't normally eat, but the service alone on my one experience here is more than enough to keep me away. The inside is what I assume you can expect in any normal mock British Pub with underground signs, flags and Beetles album covers plastered all over the walls, dimly lit, live loud music, which I guess can add to the fun atmosphere if you're out to drink. Even this different type of setting doesn't put me off. The place was pretty crowded with patrons both in the restaurant and in the pub area. We were quickly seated in a high top chair and table. Despite it being pretty busy, the waiter literally took about 20 minutes to acknowledge us and take our food and drink orders. I've never had British food before so I went with a simple dish of Banger and Mash. From the description, it's basically sausage and mash potatoes... what's not to love? Well... we definitely not love the service at all. First it takes over an hour for our food to arrive and during our wait, not once did our waiter stop by to let me know the status of our food or if there was some terrible mix up in the kitchen and he's so sorry for our wait. But it wasn't because our waiter was hiding in the back, avoiding work, but was actually very busy running around his other customers. You would think as he passes our table for the 8th time to get to the other tables, he could at least stop for a quick second and check on us. Instead, every time he turns the corner of my chair to get to the other tables behind us he knocks down my purse (I placed my purse hanging on the back of my chair)... every single time! Seriously! I know it is packed and you are a bit overweight, but if you have knocked down my purse about 4 times already, you would think he would go a different way or at least tell me he is sorry. To say he was struggling would be an understatement. I use to work in the food industry and was a server too, so I understand when others have a "bad" day, but this guy honestly did not seem to care or even acknowledge anything that was going on with our table. We barely got our drinks refilled throughout the meal too. Finally! After an hour plus wait, our food arrives. And my Bangers and Mash was good, very filling. The sausage was flavorful with the creamy mash potato all covered in a thick gravy sauce made me very happy. The other girls food all did look tasty from the Shepherd's Pie to the Lamb Shank. Despite all this, I honestly would not come by based on this terrible waiter. Hopefully he has found another job where he is able to notice his surrounding better and provide a little more attention to detail because this is definitely not his calling. Ps- writing this review just made me angry all over again!

Good: fish and chips, selection of English beers on tap Bad: all the other food we ate plus questionably-fresh salad dressing, smelly glasses Probably won't be back unless we get a hankering for fish and chips.

Great place to listen to music and the waitresses and friendly and walk around making sure you've always got a full drink. I'll update if I go back and try the food. But based on the pub ambience, I'm giving this place a 3 for creativity and originality in the area.

On a drive up route 7 in search of culinary adventure, my fiancé and I happened upon what appeared to be an authentic British pub up by Seven Corners. Guess what: it WAS authentic! Dickensian, even! The delicious steak and stout pie! The Tetley's on tap! The consumptive waitress coughing lustily all over our food! Wait, what? Oh no. Oh yes. Public House No. 7, for all its tasty offerings, now stands out in my mind as 2012's grossest customer service experience thus far. Here is the first thing our waitress said to us when we sat down: "Bear with me, guys! I'm SUPER super sick tonight, as you can see! Ha ha HnnUURRETCHnpnthhh!" - the latter being the sort of expectorant noise that makes one instinctively fumble under the table, desperate for some kind of SOS button that direct-dials the state health department. We ordered anyway. I can't speak for Matt L., but on my end, I was determined to look amiable and desperate to eat my first treacle tart in three years. I miss living in England; proper English food and drink are hard to come by here; and if getting the latter requires a spray bath in influenza virus, so be it. Plus, the waitress was at least washing her hands before handling our food, right? The thing is, no. She wasn't. She coughed all over her bare hands before touching our plates and other customers'. She snuffled audibly at the kitchen counter, seven feet from our table. She talked about needing meds with the table behind us, and when she took our check, she apologized again: "sorry guys, I am just so, so SICK!" "Ha ha, gosh, you poor thing, ha ha! I hope it's not contagious, ha ha!" I said. "Well..." she said, shrugging. "Ha ha, yikes!" I said. "Yes, yikes!" chimed in a man at the table next to ours, fearfully locking his eyes with mine. "Big yikes!" Had it not been for the disease, this would have been a 3 to 4-star experience. The steak and stout pie was tender and rich; chips were salty and thin in an inauthentically British but authentically delicious way; the ale list was dead-on. The treacle tart was disappointingly short on treacle, but warm and bland like most of the cheap pub desserts you can get in the UK. If I weren't so positive I was about to get sick, I'd be satisfied. But geez, guys.

We had a fun lunch here today. Sat at the bar and had the first home made onion rings we have had in quite a while. Sweet and crispy! We also had the curry chips. The curry sauce was great - a bit spicy with a lot of flavor. It included some veggies and shredded chicken. We asked for more sauce - it was that good. We grazed - had a fish butty. The fried cod was excellent. Not a fan of the bun, though. Just an ordinary kaiser roll. The prawn cocktail with Marie Rose sauce was everything I had seen on British TV. Soft lettuce, with some crunchy celery, big chunks of chopped shrimp - topped with the Marie Rose sauce (mayo and ketchup). Tasted much better than it sounds - especially with a bit squeeze on lemon juice. We were still wanting more to eat while we finished the beer (Boddington and Newcastle). So we got a Scotch egg. Yummy! We had fabulous service from Chris - he was friendly and informative, but never intrusive. There we a few other parties there - including a dad with his two young daughters who were loving the soccer matches on the TV! We will be back! I'm already thinking of having my husband (who works somewhat nearby) bring me a curry chicken dinner. The curry sauce was so good - you understand why chicken curry is an English national favorite!

I've been to Public House No 7 a total of four times and I've been dissappointed each time, through no real fault of it's own - I just wasn't quite into the vibe. Public House No. 7 is located on route 7 just across fromt the Seven Corners shopping center, in the space previously occupied by Brinkley's restaurant. The layout of the space is two rooms - a restaurant in the front room (facing route 7) and the pub, seperated from the restaraunt by a short hallway, in the rear. I haven't eaten at the restaurant - my only experience is in the pub and so far, only on weekends to meet up with a friend or two, or three. The pub space is a moderately large room with a bar on one end of the room, some casual seating (sofa, bar tables) to the right of the bar, then regular tables and chairs agains the walls, and communal long tables in the center. A stage sits on the opposite end of the room facing the bar. The decor is what you would expect in a mock British pub - Underground signs, Union Jacks, a great deal of wood surrounding you, Beatles album covers... it's alright. They have plenty of English beers and ales on tap (including Boddingtons which is a plus for me). I've only done the chips and the mozzarella sticks for food, but they were hot, fine and tasty. The clientele (when I've been there on weekends) is generally around the 30-ish to late 40-ish bracket, with lots of ladies (and their hubbies or boyfriends) casually dressed up to get their drink and dance on and let their hair down. The place has been pretty crowded (and pretty loud) every time I've been there - good for them, but it makes it a bit challenging to find a place to stand (or sit) without being bumped or prodded as clientele and servers make their rounds. It can also be extremely loud here, what with all the wood surfaces - on the four occasions I've been here, it's been almost impossible to have a conversation without having to shout. Service has been a little up and down each time I've been here - I can't offer any real complaints and no real praise. My biggest beef is that each time I've come here, the bands have been real deal breakers - they've just ruined the atmosphere (for me). Understandably, there aren't many British bands in Northern Va., but all of the entertainment I've experienced here has fallen into the sub-par, bar-band variety - cover bands doing the same old stuff that they've been doing for thirty years - Eagles, REM, Little Feat (does anyone really want to hear "Willin'" again - really?'), Jimmy Buffett, Tom Petty, more Eagles... completely tepid MOR, and it's loud here, with no intimate spots to escape, unless you go outside. I think this really detracts from the intended British ambience of the place. For my tastes, there is much better music (and atmosphere, as a result) to be had on any given night, at JV's, the Beach Shack, Dogwood Tavern, and the Four P's, all of which are less than a mile away. Having said this, the place has been, as I stated at the top of this review, packed each night I've been there and the rest of the clientele seem quite content and pleased to sing along with "Take It Easy," "Last Dance for Mary Jane" and "Margaritaville"- so, obviously the pub owners/management have figured out their clientele and know better than me - good for them. I still find some pluses here (Boddington's on tap, it's a pub in my neighborhood, etc...) and maybe I'd find it more appealing on weekdays without band and a smaller crowd (which I will try). Thus far, from my experiences, the Public House is not completely my cup of tea, so to speak - but most definitely better than no pub at all, yes.

I've been here twice. The first time I had the fish and chips and it was ok. The second time I had the Chicken & Mushroom Vol Au Vent and oh boy was it amazing!! We've sat in the restaurant area in the back. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. The reason I'm giving 3 stars instead of 4 is due to a couple things. One is the lack of beer selection. I assumed a pub with have a large selection of beers on tap but there were only a few and they weren't anything special. I ended up getting the New Castle brown. Second is the atmosphere in the restaurant, I felt it was a bit lacking. I love the dark wood but it didnt feel very warm to me. Perhaps the bar area provides a different atmosphere. I'll look forward to going back at some point for the Chicken & Mushroom Vol Au Vent but this is not a place we frequent.

Had a wonderful lunch here today, when we ordered the steak and ale pie with chips, and a fish and chips. The pastry on the pie was light and flakey, the filling meaty, tasty and wholesome. The batter on the fish was among the best looking I've seen this side of the pond. Very tasty! I don't know why I haven't been here before. Maybe it's unassuming exterior, but its cosy and authentic feeling inside. Very enjoyable. There was a live band playing outside today for the Queen's jubilee. I'll definitely come back.

4.5 really. We loved it. Love the theme. Dark atmosphere heavy on dark wood -- authentic. But kitchen fumes were a turnoff in the front half of the restaurant (we hate to smell like where we dined), so we went to the back, which is larger and has a bar, tvs, etc. Smell was fine back there. Not loud at all for a Friday, good mix of families and singles. We used a Groupon and had Calamari, Shepherd's Pie, Savoury Stuffed Chicken Crepes, and Creme Brulee Cheesecake. The Calamari was by far the very best I've had -- the amount was very decent, the batter was light and crisp, not greasy, and it came with little fried and battered slivers of garlic (wow) and was topped with baked rosemary (?). Very creative. Shepherd's Pie was also ample and mildly seasoned. The crepes are a must. Cheesecake was good -- a special for the day -- but nothing to write home about. As for the brew choices -- if I was the owner, I'd only offer British brews. If someone came in wanting a Bud, Miller, etc., I'd ask them why wouldn't they want the real experience of a British pub? -- and imagine kicking their rear out the door. But you have to give the people want they want. Anyways --- We'll be back!

I wasn't sure what to expect of this place - especially since I drove by it many times on the way to Babies R Us in Falls Church and the facade looked less than imposing. However, go inside and you're in for a treat. If you go in through the Route 7 side, you'll enter the main dining area. Go towards the left and head back and you'll be in the bar area which tends to open up a bit more. The crowd is friendly and drunk - just the way I like 'em. If you're looking for a place where you can plunk down and have a drink without worrying about social interaction or cliques, this is the place. Food is good too - the lamb stew, while a bit on the mild side for my tastes (the curse of British pub food) was still rather savory. Get Emily the barkeep and you'll be happy you went.

Well, now I know where to find a British Pub close to home. The feel of the place was definitely pub-like and a TV and even an sofa in front of it. The service was great and the waiters were very attentive to our needs. Food was delicious. Had the specials, mussels and shrimp with grits. The mussels was just okay but the shrimp and grits were fantastic. British pug, shrimp and grits, go figure. Next time I'll get a legit meal like the lamb shank or shepherd's pie. No beef wellington though. Overall, good place to get a nice meal, maybe watch some football. The downside is the price. The meals can run a little high or maybe it's just the economy of today. Parking wasn't terrible as there's a lot of parking at back. Also, there is sitting outside if you want to enjoy the 90+ degree weather.

OK, so I was finally able to get to this place, keep in mind I've never been in an English pub, I was kind of half expecting the women to be wearing tiaras and speaking like James Bond Girls. This was not the case......damn. I figured I have an English lunch so for apps I ordered a bowl of chips (fries) a sausage wrapped in puff pastry with a beet salad....Somebody call my mother, I actually ate beets....and I liked them. the sausage in a puff pastry was pretty great! Oh, make sure you ask for the Coleman's mustard, spicy but good! I then had something called Bangers and Mash...Ok, I'm a dude, of course I was going to order something called Bangers and Mash just so I can say that out loud! The plate came and yay! More sausages, lots of piping hot mash taters and a rich onion gravy all over it I know what you may be thinking....It's a fat man's wet dream. You would be correct. For dessert I had something called Queen of the Pudding....What the heck does that mean? It means GREAT STUFF in a dessert bowl. It's kind of like a bready custardy, meringuey (sp?) puddingly? It was quite tasty the only change I would make to it would be to make fresh meringue and then toast it right there so it's both cold and hot (not just cold) Overall, I liked this place and I'll be back ......You know what would be cool if they built or painted a Tardis on the side of the building, I think more people would see it easier. Over all God save the Queen and God save the Queen's Public House #7 :o)

Finally, a place for good ole bangers and mash. Haven't had decent b&m since living in Europe. I'll be back for sure.

We went on a Friday night to celebrate my 18 year old getting into the college of her choice. I called in the afternoon and there was no problem with the staff holding us a table of 10. The waitress was fabulous - despite being super busy, she was very attentive, and made sure we had whatever we needed. The crab dip is AMAZING, as are the chips (french fries). It was also karaoke night, and we had a blast! I will definitely visit again.

If the owners know what is good for business, they will fire the kitchen staff and retrain the servers immediately. Why? Glad you asked... Last night we happened to be in the Seven Corners area and I had read about Public House No 7 earlier in the week so we figured we'd give it a try. Since I scouted the menu in advance and the drinks caught my eye, when we arrived I asked to see a drink menu. You would have thought I had asked for them to hand me their financial statements for the last five years. After an extensive search and asking nearly everyone else who also worked there, our server came back with what the cheat sheet the bar uses to actually make the drinks. Huh? About the same time my BF came back to our table after exploring the place and discovered a back bar area with a much more relaxed atmosphere so we decided to move back there. After all, the bartender knows how to make these drinks right? Wrong. He handed us the same cheat sheet (after getting it back from our former server of course) and admitted that no one actually *orders* these drinks. So after that stellar recommendation, we decided to just get beer. Which was served from the keg warm. *sigh* Maybe the food is better? Yeah not so much. We ordered the daily special of half-price "chips and gravy." How can you go wrong with fries and beef gravy? Well you can start by serving old, cold fries with warm-ish gravy on top. When we dug in, that's when I noticed the female bartender tasting a plate of fries behind the bar. I caught her look at the other bartender and make a face of utter dissatisfaction and drop the fries into the trash can next to her. Oh if only the trash can were closer to us because I would have done the same thing. The bartender recommended the Fish and Chips and Chicken & Mushroom Vol Au Vent. After tasting the food, I have determined that all the elements of greatness are there but the executive, pardon my French, sucked. The chips were once again cold. The batter and fish itself was good, but the kitchen should have put it on paper towels after taking it out of the deep fryer because it was so greasy you could have literally wrung it out. And the garden peas on the side were a tiny, dried-up mess. The Chicken & Mushroom Vol Au Vent is basically chicken pot pie filling served in and around puff pastry. The filling itself was actually pretty tasty. It would have been better had the puff pastry not been made 3 days ago and hard as a rock. I literally could not cut through it with a steak knife. Who ever heard of puff pastry that's tougher than beef jerky? The only redeeming quality was the salad which was actually mixed baby greens and waffle cut raw carrots (cute). When we walked in my BF said "hey maybe this will be our new 'place'?" What a let down.

I really wanted to like this, but anyplace that smacks of British "charm" makes me want to retch - Anglophilia is the least of my vices - yet I reserve a soft spot for anything Benny Hill, James Bond, Patsy and Eddy, the pines and palms of the Empire or the decline and fall of the aristocracy, yet I wasn't a fan of this place. We came in here on a Saturday night. There was a dreadful Beatles cover band - as I noted to someone else, they reminded me of sad rejects from READY STEADY GO - my buddy wanted to hear some Manfred Mann, but there was none to be had...we had a pint of Guinness and made a break for it. You will too.

I have been to this restaurant 3 times now and I will continue to go back. The fish and chips are delicious!!! The atmosphere is very chill and relaxed. I did not sit in their outside seating area, but the fire was going and looked like an awesome place to drink some beers. The only complaint I have is that there is not enough parking. This place may start to become a regular!

There's not lack of British paraphernalia adorning the walls, ceiling, bar and table tops...but that's OK! It is kind of fun to poke around and look at some of the stuff (I'd like to take the scooter by the bar out for a ride). The facility has the bar side and a dining room side just like a good pub would have. The menu had more items on it that I thought it would including a few items I'd not heard of which was a pleasant surprise. Service: Friendly, prompt, attentive & knowledgeable. Food: Fish & chips were good, but just...which is OK because its British. Portion size was more than ample. Beer: decent variety but I would have liked to have seen more UK brands on the list. Entertainment: I was there during lunch and there were plenty of TV screens on which to watch "footie". Seemed that there was also a small-ish dance floor area so presume that some evenings have musical entertainment. Fun experience. I would visit again, perhaps for dinner or drinks in the evening just to check out the vibe.

From Scotch Eggs, to Sheperd's Pie; and from Waffle Stations to Bloody Mary Bars - Falls Church finally has a great new spot for 'proper' English cuisine that not only has a cozy family dining area, but also moonlights as a rustic sports bar around the corner in the back of the restaurant. It's not a secret that I love stout. I order it wherever it's offered, and one of the huge reasons why I love Public House 7 is because they carry one of my favorites - Oatmeal Stout. They also carry quite a few other beers, but if you like something smooth, rich and on the heavier side - you'll enjoy the Oatmeal Stout. Braised lamb shank in red wine sauce with mashed potatoes and hand-tossed garlic spinach makes for a perfect Sunday dinner to end the weekend. There's absolutely nothing to sigh about here, as the tender meat falls off the bone and leaves no lingering traces of gaminess at all. You'll want to dip every part of this dish in the delicious red wine gravy though, so take your time and enjoy this meal as you sit back and watch the game on one of the 5 big screens in the bar section with a few friends. It's also nice to have finally found a restaurant that offers a proper Sheperd's Pie; a classic English dish that starts with ground beef, carrots, peas and gravy, topped with mashed potatoes and a buttery puff pastry - and also comes with 'chips'. Also - if you read the menu and get confused with some of the words or names - check the back for translations. For example - "Bap" is an English slang for a soft sandwich bun, "Rockets" means arugula lettuce leaves, and "Crisps" is what Americans would call Potato Chips. The home made scones with whipped cream and fresh berries was the perfect way to end this meal on a lighter note. After having a massive dinner with a few beers - you might even want to consider splitting this. Cheers! For a Full Review with Mouthwatering Photos, Click Here! thehungrymuse.com/2011/0…

We had a great time here. We only ordered desserts and drinks on a Friday at the beginning of karaoke. Its what you would expect out of an english pub except not a lot of english or european beers. The dining room in the front and the bar is upstairs in the back with a small porch out back. They seems to have nightly events like the karaoke, trivia nights, and cask nights. The bar is great for a laid back evening.

It's always interesting to read reviews because of the different expectations that people seem to have. Putting a British styled/themed pub in the same space that was formerly occupied by the long standing dive/diner Brinkley's is sure to invite the opportunity for many to have their say. First off, let's talk about the ambiance and general "vibe" of the place. I think that the owner (an Brit ex-pat) has struck a good balance. You get the expected Union Jacks, nods to the '60s British Invasion, Royals et al but it isn't overdone. No, it isn't like stepping into the wilds of Yorkshire, but I don't think that is a realistic expectation, nor one that the management has striven for. What you get is a friendly neighborhood tavern that is British themed. As far as the service goes, well, I have to say that recently I have been treated like royalty when I have been here, but that really only applies to the recent changes to the wait and bar staff. If I was writing this review a year ago, I wouldn't be anywhere near as positive, but there seems to have been some turnover with the staff and it has definitely been for the better. I think that people who were previously disappointed in the service would be very pleasantly surprised now. The beer selection is quite good, with lesser known drafts and ales sitting comfortably alongside the expected Guinness, Boddington's, Newcastle, and others. The addition of Strongbow on tap is a nice touch as well, although including another lesser known cider would be an even bigger plus, but that is more of a personal wish than a complaint. The most erratic aspect of the place is easily the quality of the food. The fish and chips is a "nice try"...a good sized slab of cod (?) but it is often overcooked, too greasy, and batter heavy/actual fish light. The chips are ok. The shepherds pie and steak pie have been alternately great and terrible...it's frankly a bit of a crap shoot. The full English breakfast was disappointing...more what you would receive in a greasy workingman's cafe than proper pub fare, while the ploughman's lunch which boasted as being a "platter of assorted British cheeses" was in reality 4 thin slices of bland cheddar. I've always been in the bar/tavern section and not in the restaurant so I can't comment on that aspect. Also, I've never been in when there was live entertainment so I can't comment on that either, although after reading other reviews, I wouldn't want to hear Margaritaville or The Eagles either. I know they have a British Invasion DJ night, but surely it can't be impossible to find a decent '60s/'70s UK cover band? Or maybe an '80s UK synth pop DJ night? So, all in all, I do like this place quite a bit. No, it isn't perfect but compared to other mid-price bars and taverns in the area, it is different enough to stand out a bit, is unpretentious, and offers the right amount of charm and value for the money. I also get the feeling that the owner genuinely cares about the place and will make positive changes and improvements, much as he has already done.

Service was terrible. Had to send my order back twice to finally get what I ordered. Raj wrap was not good -- found grisle on the chicken and it was very dry.

Couldn't eat none of the food served. I just couldn't clear the plate and had to eat somewhere else afterward. First time I left a restaurant without a full stomach. Granted its a pub restauraunt but pub food still should taste decent. The scotch egg was clearly microwaved. Sections of it was discolored and dry. They said it was deep fried...no way. Pretty bad. Fish and Chips.....how do you mess up fish and Chips at a british pub? Crust was soggy and the fish had a horrible after taste. Very disappointed with that one because I love crispy battered fish. Oh well. Than I ordered Welsh Rabbit with Roasted Cherry Tomatoes. Didn't know what to expect because I never had it or heard of it before. Lets say I won't have it again. They say England makes bad food, I'm betting they started with the Welsh Rabbit. Just saying. Then my friend had this dish with some type of gravy sauce over chicken. I forgot the name of it, but it was also BAD. It wasn't hot and it tasted like it was microwaved in some plastic container and poured on the plate. I'm pretty open minded with food and hole in the wall restaurants, especially from bars or pubs, but every dish was bad. Thats not good. I guess I should have got the hint....it was a friday night almost 10 pm and there seem to be more staff than customers. Not a good sign. I think they need Chef Ramsey to give them a hand in making proper English food.

Had the quiche with grapefruit salad. Super healthy and yum. I tried the 10 quidder and could barely finish it. She said it was the bitters. Switched to their Bloody Mary (thanks for the tip Yelpers!) and was very happy. Will definitely be back.

Public House has been a wonderful addition to the neighborhood for many reasons. 1--it has the feeling of a legitimate British Pub. I mean, sure, it's a little clean and not nearly smoky enough/at all, but it's got a solid, non-fake Pub feel to it. 2--the diverse crowd is always a trip. People, including the waitstaff, are very friendly, and you feel like you're at the neighborhood bar when you're there. No cliques, everyone is hanging out. I meet someone random and cool every time I go there. 3--They've got a great karaoke scene. My friends and I can frequently be found there on Friday. Music choices are great; you just walk up, tell her what you want to sing, and she gets you in the queue. The beer selection is good, what you would expect at a British Pub: Guiness, Boddington's, Newcastle, etc. And the food is pretty decent! We had the fish and chips the other day, and they were very tasty. Bangers and mash is next on my list, because you can count on there being a next time. We're already at least once every other week people, and will continue to be. It's a great place to watch sports too. And I, for one, am very happy Public House isn't in Ballston. It's got too much soul/authenticity to fit in there. I think it will have no problem thriving right where it is.

This is a great English pub. If you don't like that style of food or quality beers, you're in the wrong place. Boddingtons, Newcastle, ESB, and now Fat Tire (!!!) on tap. Delicious items I have tried: Fish and chips, Shepherd's pie, Scotch egg salad, Steak and stout pie, potato crisp nachos (hand-cut potato chips with melted cheese and salt beef, which is like corned beef). Good service, with different 1/2 price specials during happy hour (4-8pm), and trivia kings trivia on Tuesday nights!

I went to Public House for the first time yesterday for lunch. I have driven by it at least 100 times, but didn't stop in because it looks a little pretentious from the outside. I figured the prices would be a high and it would just be a dinner and a drink spot for the older crowd. I entered on the Route 7 side. At first glance, my feelings based on the facade seemed exactly right. It was quiet and it was definitely the older crowd. When I walked in, the hostess was nice enough to suggest that I go and investigate the second floor. Talk about two different worlds... The second floor is where you find the pub. The atmosphere is very authentic, including at least one legit Brit bartender. There are lots of TVs strategically placed around the pub that were all playing rugby or soccer, which added the the authentic feel. When I opened the menu I still expected the place to be a little on the pricey side. I was happily surprised to see that the had a full page of sandwiches, soups, and salads that appeared to be more targeted towards a lunch crowd. I didn't see anything in this section of the menu over $10, so its very reasonable. When you went to the entree page, it did look like there were some more expensive offerings, but know that it is possible to dine here on a budget! I ordered the steak and cheese wrap and my friend ordered the pesto chicken wrap. Both were delicious. The chips (fries) were great too. I was very pleasantly surprised by the food having been to Great Britain. If you haven't been, the food there sucks. The best food I had in England was at the airport. I'm glad that Public House strayed away from the authenticity when it came to the quality and taste of their food. In regards to service, all I can say is that it was friendly and more than sufficient. We went during a pretty slow time (about 3P.M.), so there weren't many other patrons competing for service. Happy hour is from 4-8 on weekdays. Every day they have a different special, but I think I saw that rail drinks are half of everyday during happy hour. Wish I had stolen a specials list to post. Sorry. Will add that next time I swing by!

Authentic & Delicious! Went there for lunch on a Sunday afternoon and absolutely loved it. Setting foot in the door, we were immediately greeted by a warm and friendly waitress who allowed us to sit wherever we liked and promptly took our order for drinks and and appetizers - we chose a basket of onion rings that turned out to be some of the lightest, sweetest, crunchiest of any I've ever eaten... a bit greasy, but hey - aren't they supposed to be?! They were delicious! :) Wanting to check out the British fare, we ordered one shepherds pie, one fish & chips and one chicken 'coq au vent' - an absolutely scrumptious puff pastry filled with big chunks of tender chicken, mushrooms and yummy, white gravy... a must if you go. The shepherds pie was moist, hot and seasoned PERFECTLY. Topped with a piping of creamy mashed potatoes, it was easily the best I've eaten in the states. Finally, the fish & chips was also fantastic... light, hot and crispy = YUM! Even the side dish of house-made cole slaw was fresh and delicious; I wanted more! If I could give this place six stars I would - the staff, the food, the warm and genuine atmosphere - this place is a gem. I can't wait to return and explore more of the expansive menu!

We strolled into Public House No. 7 on a quiet Sunday afternoon and headed to the rustic pub in the back. After chatting with the bartender and cooks for a bit, we learned that they had hosted a Beatles tribute band the previous evening and had nearly run out of food. Choosing a couple of tap beers and the English shrimp cocktail featuring prawns, apple and celery salad, and Marie Rose sauce, we settled into our varnished stools and contemplated ways to get music acts scheduled. The cooks clearly take pride in the dishes they create, describing the beauty of the Sunday roast dinner until we craved it. Certainly Public House No. 7 is a young establishment, with confusing parking and back of house issues, but our experience of the food and ambiance was excellent (our prawn dish was delicately seasoned and delightfully fresh) and the other heralded English dishes on the menu were tempting. Cross your fingers that it becomes foremost among local English pubs.

Oh Public House No. 7, we had such high hopes for you when you opened. Our first visit was just o.k. Service was a tad slow considering the pub was only moderately busy, but we factored in that you hadn't been open long and needed an adjustment period. The noise was loud, but we we weren't deaf upon leaving. The food was so so and greasy, but perhaps it was just the kitchen staff getting their bearings. On our second visit, though, with a hankering for burgers, we were crushed. We waited over 15 minutes and when still the waitress who repeatedly visited the tables next to us didn't even bother to make eye contact or offer a "Hello, I'll be right with you!" we left. When there are burgers to be consumed and beer to be drunk, Dogfish Head is right across the street...

Maybe because of my lack of familiarity with British culture and cuisine, this is like a European person going into PF Chang's and thinking they're getting a real slice of China, so please keep this in mind as you read my review. Public House No. 7, in the heart of one of the most congested and confusing parts of town, is a wonderful British pub that pays homage to all things English (I think...). From the country's flag everywhere to a life-size knight statue to portraits of famous Brits, this is an ode to the birthplace of English. This restaurant already has a leg up other Nova establishments because it has character along with very delectable fare. The menu is extensive and includes familiar British food, such as fish and chips, as well as more elusive offerings like prawns with Marie Rose sauce (sounds like shrimp cocktail...). My friends and I came for the happy hour special--Thursdays is seafood day--and were all pleased with our orders. My seafood stew came out with plenty of mussels and shrimp and even a two crab legs!!! (Note: This option is slightly more money than the other happy hour specials, with due reason.). As the happy hour specials didn't seem as quintessentially British, we also got chips and gravy (comes with bits of chicken, so I didn't try) and shepherd's pie. Drink specials are pretty good. I'd expect to find a place like this in an up and coming DC neighborhood, but when I don't have to cross Memorial or Key to get here, I'm a pretty happy camper.

I've spent A LOT of time in the UK and never been to a pub there that's as awful as this one. PH 7 serves British food from 20 years ago, when it was inedible. That's what their food is, too - inedible. If you've been to a UK pub in the last 10 years, you'll also know that there are dozens of microbreweries popping up that are brewing some really good stuff ... and those beers are the focus of the pubs, not the standard Guinness, Boddington's, Newcastle, etc. One visit was enough.

We the people of Bailey's Crossroads welcome this casual neighborhood pub/bar to the area, to bring joy, laughter, debauchery, and English snacks to local beer drinkers and Caps fans alike. There are ample TVs to watch the games (plasmas and big screen), Beatles tunes in the background, and retro British decor. Menu options include the identifiable English fish and chips, British Raj Chicken wrap, quiche, rabbit, and various others. My drink was nice and strong, but I got by with a little help from my friends. Wait staff is friendly. Place gets crowded but manageable. The fire going out back was a nice touch for birds and lads wanting to take a breather outside. Parking can be a challenge but you'll always find it somewhere, so don't fret.

IF you like Canned food... We just got back from that place. The brisket pot pie I had? It was made from canned gravy. The pineapples on my friends salad? Canned. She didn't get sick, but I did having to throw up as soon as we got home. Is PublicHouse 7 worth it? NO! Her wine was $7.50 for stuff that we considered peewater. Anything better? $10 at least. We were better off going to Trader Joes for their wine. Management outta take a page out of Mad Fox as far as quality and service. Total tab on 1 salad, 1 glass of wine, 1 ale and 1 brisket pot pie? $37. For the first time ever too, I STIFFED the waiter...something I've never Done. Why? Young kid who is untrained, and who insisted on talking while his head was over our food and who has a lot to learn. I'm simply not in the practice of paying someone to learn or rewarding them for blunders that are truly basic (what, his mommy never took him to Mickie D's??). If I worked with such a kid with one of my clients? That would be a major contract ender. How so? A simple inability to take responsibility for his actions (yes...we notice...but no, we're not there to enlighten. Not our job). My friend and I both had the impression that the restaurant has a hard time retaining mature/skilled staff. Once again look at Mad Fox. Waiter staff LOOK like they work there, not like it's some guy dressed in jeans and a long sleeve shirt who looks like he just walked out of car shop or even worse, county jail. Will we go back? Heck no. We're better off spending $40 hard earned bucks on quality food, in a place that has positive energy, and a place where food is cooked from scratch, not cooked, and where the servers have positive personalities. Oh...A recommendation on how to make the place better? Try hiring a local native American doctor to cleanse the icky energy of the place. (yup...bad vib....Maybe it was built over an old Indian burial ground??) The place just feels unauthentic...I mean "quesadilla" at an English Pub? RIGHT.....

Came here on a Sunday night with my husband and a friend to watch a football game. Plenty of tvs and they all eventually ended up on the game. The three of us split the potato crisp nachos - they are house made and very crispy and go great with the cheese and salt beef. I had the steak and stout pie, my husband had the shepherd's pie. I liked his a little better than mine, but they were both good. The steak and stout pie has a flaky puff pastry-type topper that tasted great with the pie's 'sauce'. The food was overall good and interesting - different than you can get at your average bar and a decent variety. Since we were there for awhile watching the game we had time for dessert. The apple crumb was delicious, nice and hot served with vanilla ice cream on top that starts melting into it as soon as you get it. The friend I was with had the chocolate cake and he liked that also. Overall good food, drinks are good priced, only problem we had was with the service. Our waitress told us after we ordered our food that they were switching to the evening bar, so we could each pay right then for our food we didn't yet get, or have it roll over and we'd have a different waitress. So we opted to go with the roll over to a different waitress, but after our food was delivered no one was around to wait on us. so eventually we got ahold of the only other waitress, who never was told our waitress left. She was then busy with her original tables so we didn't get the greatest service - to get dessert I went looking for a bus boy and asked him for a menu, and then eventually flagged the waitress down to order. Other than that the food came promptly and was hot and good. Drink prices were reasonable. They have specials each night and a brunch on sundays - we will come back for the brunch as they have an omlette and waffle bar, sounds good!

Went here for dinner with business associates. A little worried when I walked through the door - no problem - the waitress was amazing. I saw Bangers and Mash on the menu and had to give it a whirl. It was excellent. $3 draft beer for happy hour. Good dinner prices. We went upstairs to the tap room after dinner for a beer. Excellent atmosphere, great beer, great prices. I will definitely be back!

I wasn't too sure what to expect of this place, maybe I had a higher expectation based on the reviews posted here. We went here with a group a few weekends ago. I don't think the crowd could have been more diverse if it tried. And I'm not a huge Karaoke fan as I tend to not like similar music as most people. So those things aside, it was a pretty cool bar. Decor was cool, fitting for the theme. I'd have to try the fare at a later date, but from a bar standpoint, a so-so place, probably better minus the karaoke.

A very authentic English pub offering English beers and other beverages. Food (breakfast, lunch, dinner and including Sunday lunch roast) very English. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. You can relax here. Now more acquainted with the Pub, I intend to make it my 'local' and will attend the Karoke, bands and 80s disco nights.

I have been there twice before and liked it a lot so I am hoping I just was visiting on an off night. Sat at a table in the bar alone for at least 15 minutes and never saw a waiter. As soon as my friend arrived so did the bartender. Made me feel like I had two heads although he did say he just didn't see me and apologized. Then when the wait shift came on a few minutes later at 5 pm we had too much service for the next two hours. Two different waiters every few minutes. The band crowd started to come in and the vibes were just weird. The fish and chips were good, actually just the fish not the chips (they tasted like they had been cooked hours before)and the British ale was good as always. This place has so much potential. Attributing it to a bad night but not sure I am going back anytime soon.

Such a great addition to the local bar and restaurant offerings. Very nice atmosphere. Excellent shepherds pie, fish and chips and Welsh Rabbit...yum! And really nice people working here. I enjoyed a few Magic Hat's on one visit, and a perfectly poured Guinness on another. I strongly suggest that you do the same!

It's very hard to find a British style pub in the US that doesn't overdo the kitsch. I guess because the owner is actually British, that it comes across as a genuine attempt to recreate one in the wasteland of Seven Corners. I got to talking with the owner, being an expat myself, and he came to our table with some bacon that he cured himself. It was exactly like the rashers you can get back in the UK. Marvelous! Between us, we had the potato crisp nachos, which were great, the steak and ale pie, which I liked, but a friend said it tasted a bit funky, and the ploughmans lunch, which was really enjoyable because it had a nice selection of cheeses. The bbers were kept well, but limited to the usual UK imports, Newcastle, Boddingtons and Stella, but also had ESB and London Pride. I don't know why, but ESB doesn't taste the same as it does in the UK, but never the less was extremely fine. Got to say that the barman/server was great and was interested in his work, and kept the beers flowing and seemed to enjoy us being there. Likewise for the owner. We will be back next time we are in that area. Cheers!

The atmosphere is cool and I love the outdoor patio. The food takes forever to come out. Not sure how it takes almost an hour for a chips appetizer to come out. When we did get it, it came with our meal and both were cold. This has happened twice to me. Also good luck getting a reliable server.

I bought one of those online vouchers to save money while giving a new place a try and it was GREAT! Food was yummy, atmosphere up front was nice. Waitstaff was knowledgeable and attentive. We did go on a weeknight so not sure how busy but I will definitely go back.

I've been meaning to go to this place since it opened. One piece of background info: although I'm an American, I grew up in the UK, so I'm more than a little fussy about places that bill themselves as "authentic British pubs"...except that this one delivers. I had the Shepherd's Pie and it mildly annoyed me that it was better than my homemade--which is pretty darn good. The beer was also the right temperature; it annoys me when it's too cold and I have to let it sit on the bar for 30 minutes before it's drinkable. I was a little nervous, having read some of the comments here about the service. I have to say that my experience was the opposite. Both bartenders were friendly and accommodating and one of the owners stopped by as well. Now if we could just wean the poor buggers from their allegiance to Arsenal and find them a real team...like Chelsea!

Okay, this place wins out three stars on just the vibe a lone. It definitely has a more relaxed and slow pace to it, and I'm glad they didn't hire some pompous-assed bartender either. I've been to (and worked at) some pretty pretentious and poorly run British Pubs. Awesome out door seating and really friendly service. Great place to go with a big crowd for indoor and outdoor seating. Lot's of easy parking. The beer selection is decent. I haven't seen Fullers ESB on tap since Galaxy Hut had it 10 years ago. Unfortunately they don't win any happy hour awards in my book. I'm pretty sure the only discounted drink is Miller Light. They do have food specials at happy hour but who really eats at a british pub? No seriously, the food is pretty terrible. The fish and chips where abominable. Thick nasty breading that peeled right off in a goopy mess, leaving behind a naked, bland, fish filet. The fries (sorry) the chips were fresh cut but did not taste like they had been soaked and then par-cooked. They came out of the gates piping hot but were limp and tragic. Yes you get HP sauce and all that stuff, but it doesn't help the little buggers out. Calamari was accompanied by marinara sauce, so therefore it was only half decent. These days I don't think it's too much to ask to come up with some type of smart aioli or chili sauce or something. Bottom line: When you look at your friends and say "Wanna go grab a pint?" this is a good first stop. Especially if you're a soccer fan. As far as eats, I think in general Public House needs to rethink how they batter and fry half of their menu.

The food was very good--everyone in our party was pleased with their meals. The only down side is the heavy smell of grease--our clothes still smell like fried food more than 12 hours after we left.

Hidden away in a little strip mall in the busy 7-Corners area is this cute genuine British pub. The interior is not very big but beautifully decorated, not to OTT like most "themed" bars. There is a lovely outdoor patio with fireplace, stone walls and chairs and smoking friendly area, though no good view. The food is pretty tasty, particularly the shepherd's pie and fish & chips. The best part of this place is the rotating selection of real English ales, Today they had London Pride, ESB and some other traditional ales we enjoyed when we lived in London. They occasionally have one real cask ale "pulled" beer but it goes fast. The staff are very friendly. During the afternoon hours it's a mix of locals and folks just passing through. You'll see a big after-work crowd that soon gives way to locals. There's usually a live musician. Tuesdays are trivia night. Downsides: very little parking. Alternatively, you could roll the dice and park across the street at the doctor's building.

Fish and Chips on Monday are a must stop but remember the discount can allow you an extra pint. Thanks for opening a community based operation. Kitchen is branching out with seasonal items (soft shells) and it looks as if more are to follow. Wish there wee changes in beer on tap but cans and bottles are available. Hockey and Soccer are popular upstaris and the dinning room is separate and it has an outside area as well.

My friend took me here on a recent work trip to Falls Church. I was told stories how the old residents of the location were very shady, possible violations being committed in the joint. So this was the friends first visit too. I was iffy, thought it was safer to visit a Chipotle and call it a night. I'm glad we ended up going to No. 7. The decor was cool. The beer selection was better then anything I've seen back home. Food was normal pub fare. I had the sheppard's pie, pretty good. I'm sure if I lived in the area, this would be a hangout spot.

We stopped by Public House No. 7 on a whim one evening just to see what it was like. When we walked through the doors we felt like we were back in England. The decor is warm and inviting, and the food is really really good. For starters we had the Potato Crisp Nachos which are handcut potato crisps topped with cheddar cheese, sour cream and salt beef. I had the Peppered Steak with Brandy Cream Sauce and my wife had the Roast Beef Dinner. The beef was so tender you could cut it with a fork. The couple next to us had the fish and chips and the fish portions were enormous (as are all the portions regardless of the dish). They also have an excellent selection of British beers and I could not resist the Hob Goblin while my wife had the hard cider which is one of her favorite drinks. This is a restaurant that could quickly become a favorite place to dine.

I have been there several times. I like it because it is casual, the staff is friendly, the service is good and the pub grub (fish and chips, bangers and mash, and the like) besides being unique, is good, tasty fare. Most customers appear to be local which is a good sign. Also, the prices are reasonable... I look forward to returning.

I checked out this place with my fiancee and her parents on a Friday night. We came in from the back bar area. I definitely like the atmosphere here. It's divided into two sections. There's a bar area with a lot of English paraphernalia and some louder music playing. Seemed pretty lively and inviting, but we headed over to the quieter restaurant area. I had the fish butty sandwich with a salad. The food was excellent. Portions were a little smaller than I had hoped for, but nonetheless very good. I tried some of the Lancashire hot pot which tasted amazing. I also two Fuller's ESB on draft. The prices here seemed decent. Overall, I was impressed with this place and will be back.

Went to this pub on a saturday night and it wasn't very busy at all. The drinks and beer were okay, but thats about it. The live music was way too loud, somewhat like being at an arena concert inside a very small space, so we ended up sitting outside. We had two staff waiting on us throughout our time there and it appeared as though they were not communicating with each other. Honestly, I'm not sure how they could have with the music level inside the space. We asked for menus and both gave us a disclaimer that they were now on the late night menu. We were fine with that and only wanted a few things to snack on. Neither brought it out to us and we ended up having to go inside and track someone down for a menu. They were acting as if they were slammed, but there were only a handful of people in the bar. We ordered some wings and a quesadilla. The wings were very over cooked, to the point where the meat was also somewhat crunchy. We told the waiter and they brought another order, but those were also overcooked. I've driven past this place many times. Two of our friends had just gotten back to the states from London, so they were the ones that wanted to meet here. It's unlikely I would go back.

Great local addition to the bar scene. I've been several times and I haven't been disappointed. The bartenders are always on point and also really nice. They have a pretty good selection of drinks as well, and as said already in the reviews, Guinness is poured right. If you like bars where you can get some good drinks and good food with a great atmosphere, while not losing your hearing in the process, No.7 is for you.

I really don't understand all the positive reviews here. My boyfriend and I just returned from a Saturday evening dinner. Yes, we had a Specialicious coupon. Which ordinarily makes us a little more forgiving of our food. But we just couldn't let this meal go by undocumented. The calamari, while breaded well, were rubbery, indicating that they were of low quality and/or overcooked. I ordered the fish and chips. Tons of very greasy batter, but surprisingly little actual fish in there. And, the fish was not at all seasoned, and since it was frozen when cooked, it was very watery. Unappealing at best. The fries that came with my dish were soggy, underseasoned, and generally just sad. The best part of my plate were the peas and coleslaw, in that they were actually edible. My boyfriend had the roast beef dinner. According to him, the roast beef tasted like packaged deli meat, heated up and covered with jarred gravy. The potatoes, while competent, were also packaged (not freshly made). The freshest part of the meal were the vegetables, but they lacked any seasoning whatsoever. Overall a disappointing experience. Our waitress was nice enough, but hovered a little too closely in the nearly-empty downstairs seating area. She seemed personally hurt by our not eating much of our food. Even with the coupon, we feel like the food is vastly overpriced, considering it tastes like it came from a high school cafeteria. For a similar, but better experience, try Elephant & Castle in DC.

good fish and chips. ok selection of beer. very loud music upstairs. i'm not really sure if this restaurant should be at the location where it is now...however, i believe the price, quality, and the service was good. perhaps it would be better if public house was located in ballston...

I'm impressed by the menu. It would have been so easy to just go with the standard TGIF menu. Authentic pub crowd. Darts and a quiz night are nice features. I'd like to see them host a rugby or crew team and embed into our community a bit.

I haven't eaten at a lot of British pubs, but from the ones i've tried overseas, this place tops em! They have great beers on tap (magic hat, guiness, delerium tremens) and wonderful pub food. When I was there, i had the fish and chips, and it was great. I am generally the kind of person who slathers a bunch of tartar sauce on his fish and chips, but this fish and chip was so good, it was better without all of that stuff. This fish was WAY better than the english version I tried in london. Great staff as well that went out of their way to not only get my order, but remember my name. A welcome addition to 7 corners. In this immediate block, if you are looking for great burgers, red robin. If you are looking for eclectic micro brew beers, Dog fish head, and if you are looking for a combination of great food and great beer, Public house no.7!!

As a NYC transplant I am attempting to visit all the local restaurants within walking distance and tonight it was Public House No 7's turn. I'm a big fan of English/Scottish pub food and was looking forward to sampling the fare. Following the maze that is attempting to traverse the 7 Corners intersection on foot, we entered and noticed the downstairs which was busy and opted to sit upstairs in the "Tap Room". The atmosphere is half UK sports bar, half US sports bar. There was no soccer on the tv, which was fine, as I don't care for it, but hardly authentic, baseball and ESPN ruled. Plenty of British knick-knacks on the wall, Beatles, Who and Stones albums, pictures of famous London locales and historic football lithographs. Unfortunately, the music ranged from such British Invasion standards as Journey, Boston and Lynyrd Skynyrd. It was as if someone once cared that it was attempting to be an English pub and either gave up or sold it to someone without a clue. Ok, let's get down to the food: standard pub fare as mains, a selection of sandwiches and keeping with the theme, half UK, half US apps. My wife and I both ordered a beer on tap from an adequate but not outstanding list, mozzarella sticks (US) to start and fish and chips for her, Lancashire Hot Pot (UK) for me. This was essentially lamb stew covered with scalloped potatoes. The beer was quite good (Legend IPA I believe) and the mozz sticks were fine as expected. The real issue was the main. While my wife's fish and chips were passable the hot pot was not........Burned, paper thin potatoes on top of halal cart quality lamb, burned sauce and only a hint of carrots/seasoning. Small, unappealing portion straight out of the first 15 min of a Kitchen Nightmare episode. I was tempted to send it back for something else, but I'm not one to make the waiter suffer for the kitchen's faults and frankly, I didn't think any other option would end up being all that redeeming. On that note, the service was pretty good and fairly attentive, not amazing but not bad. Final review.......I might go back to check out trivia night and have a few beers, but never again for dinner.

The goat cheese blt is sensational!! It is only a special so it is not available everyday, which I am hoping will change. Great atmosphere, great music. If they put my sandwich on the menu everyday, they would automatically get 5 stars. Everyone I have been there with has also enjoyed what they ordered :-)

I didn't go to the bar. I was only interested in the food. And it is awesome! The waitstaff were wonderful and the decor was surprising. Go there for traditional English fare that tastes so much better than it should!

Great food, great atmosphere. We had the fish-n-chips and the steak and stout pie...both were delicious, fresh, huge portions. Had some drinks and ate in the bar area in the back. What a cozy place with friendly staff and patrons. I know we'll be back many times.

This place caught our eye driving bye and decided to give it a try. Glad we did. It's nicely put together and the food was great. I got the bangers and mash. At first sight I didn't think I'd eat it all. Next thing I knew it was all gone. Great price too! Didn't go to the bar in the back though. Maybe next time...

So my family and I went here for dinner and I must say I most likely will NEVER be back. This place has an ant problem!! I was bitten 3 times and my daughter was bitten! We picked up the ketchup bottle, opened it and didn't realize until my husband pointed it out that the whole bottle was covered in at least 20 ants if not more. I pointed it out to our waiter and asked for a new bottle pointing out that it was covered in ants, he takes the bottle to the dish washing side of the kitchen, and rinses it off with hot water and brings it back with no apology or anything. I guess i could have asked to speak to a manager but I really shouldnt have to, it should be automatic. i dont need my meal comped, i just wanted a simple aknowlegement of the issue and an apology!! I'm as sorry as I can be but I don't care how your food is half as much as I care about the customer service!!! The food was decent, nothing to write home about, it was half off fish n chips so that's what we both got and it was okay. But due to the poor handling of the situation and not enjoying my food because I was fighting ants off of myself and my 2 year old I will never go back!!

I was so excited when I saw that there was an authentic British Pub not to far from home. I spent a significant amount of my youth in England and consider it almost like my second home. Every now and then I need my Sunday roast and crumbles & custard fix. My husband went there for a Dad's night out once or twice before me and gave me some good reviews. But he didn't really eat there. Finally I got to go for a Sunday lunch. Soooooo disappointed!! The roast beef was gray and like leather. And you call that a Yorkshire pudding??!! Come on!! I'm not even going to go into detail I was so let down. Speechless. Although my husband ordered the Fish & Chips and thought that they did a decent job. I tasted his Fish and also though it was good. One thing they do well I guess. I would come for a pint and a Karaoke night if the opportunity arises but I'd rather cook my own English Sunday roast at home anytime, Thank you very much! (I've got the roast chicken and gravy pat down, baby!)

This is our new neighborhood bar. We've been here a few times since moving to Seven Corners and it never disappoints. This place reminds me of several bars that I used to frequent in AZ put together. The homey, "everyone's a regular feel of Rula, the dark wood or Feeneys, and the mere "English-ness" of it all of George and Dragon, just to name a few. We always try and sit at the bar and usually drop in on a weekend day. They have a really decent beer selection, which is not something I'd necessarily expect if I'm "judging a book by its cover". One thing I do expect, from the 1st time we came here and every time after, is that the food is going to be authentic and fantastic. And it always is. My husband always goes for a burger or the mac and cheese, whereas I try and stick to the "Proper food" menu. The fish and chips are delightful. Not only are they large, but the beer batter is crisp and the fish super moist. The shepherd's pie is really good (still haven't found a fave out here). The seasonings in the beef/gravy/ beef juices are great. But so far my fave menu item is the Lancashire Hot Pot (lamb stew topped w/ scalloped potatoes). Holy mother of England is it good. The lamb is perfectly done and melts in your mouth. And partnered w/ the potatoes, its really something. I have a hard time waiting for it to cool down before I dig in. Clearly, we'll continue coming here. Maybe we'll see ya?

Came here for a friend's going away party, and it was also my first time here. I can say that my opinion of the place is neither good nor bad. It's an average, nothing-to-write-home-about pub with average beer and average food. It's location is somewhat strange, situated next to a budget beauty salon. The "back bar" and really the main space is actually upstairs from a smaller dining room. The decor is British kitsch, which just makes the place look kind of bad. That evening was also karaoke, which was fun if a bit subdues - mainly because there was no one at the bar and same people (including us) took the mic multiple times. Oddly, the MC kept on cutting the songs off before they were finished, leaving the karaoke-ers singing to dead silence. Kind of uncomfortable. Our server was lovely and always attentive, so I'll give the place props for good customer service. Outside of the socializing with my friends, the experience at this pub was forgettable, so I'll likely not come back.

Came here for trivia night, which was a lot of fun and ran really well. So that was great. The service though? Phew, needs some work. Also picked up the weakest sampler platter ever here. Also when I asked about scotch the guy was at a loss. Still, trivia, and beer, they did have that in abundance, so not a total loss.

We came by because we got a door ad saying it was under new management. Unremarkable food. We had the chipotle chicken wrap and the burger with two house ales. The house ales and the onion rings were the highlight. Otherwise everything was pre-prepared, bland fare. This place would go stratospheric if it had a chef makeover. The food was cooked fine but wasn't anything to go out for. I'd make the burger patties fresh and hand cut the fries. If one word could describe the wrap and burger it is generic'. Service was attentive and nice. We're coming back for the live music to check out the entertainment.

This place used to be awesome. Yesterday was our first visit since new management took over. When we entered the bar we weren't greeted by the bartender. It wasn't like the place was busy, there were 2 people sitting at bar. Not sure where they found this guy but he stinks as far as being friendly & knowing how to take orders. We came in for the delicious fish and chips as well as the homemade nachos we were obsessed with, what a disappointment. I ordered the fish sandwich, more like a fish stick on a giant bun! The fish had no flavor and was soggy. The burger appeared to be a frozen patty that was ok. The chips for the nachos were still homemade but had completely different toppings. The food used to be fresh and delicious. I won't be going back for the food or he service. Bring back the il management!

I met a couple of friends there -- a local band called the Crimestoppers was playing and I friend was recruiting folks to come out, so we did. I had not been before -- it is small and dark looking and the parking looked tight. Previously I had just had not had a reason to give it try. But this weekend was different and so we ventured into Public House No 7. It was clean. The staff was friendly and accomodating. It has a nice small stage set-up. I tried the sausage roll which both a friend and the waitress suggested. It was not bad but it may just not be my thing. I do want to try the fish and chips and I am also curious about and considering testing their trivia night some time soon. Right now I am not that thrilled although I do think it could be a good place to spend time with folks, it just had a good atmosphere.

I was at Public House for a friend's party. It was my first visit as it isn't near my neck of the woods or anywhere I really hang out. The place is a decent size. It was Friday night and there was just the 9 of us and 4 other people. With it being dead the feel was off. I am not a karaoke person, but that helped the evening get a little more lively. Drinks are basic, beer is basic...not much going on. I didn't eat, so I can't speak to the good words for the burgers. Several friend's ate and they said it was ok. Our server was great, but the rest of the staff seems a little mad or unhappy.

The establishment changed ownership about five months ago, the new owners have decided unfortunately to include items like steak and ale pie and most importantly( for me atleast) scotch eggs. Both of those scrumptious dishes were the only reason I had to visit this pub, having missed the opportunity to taste them has been a bitter dissapointment.

Right in the middle of seven corners you will find this tiny pub. The food was your ordinary pub food and was just average. The bartender was friendly and attentive. I was not wowed by the food but service is the reason I would come back. I'm not saying the food was bad..... just nothing amazing.

We had gone to Eden Center on New Year's Day and found the whole parking lot packed. Celebrating the day must be a Vietnamese tradition. We wound up at the Public House and were the only customers around 12:30 PM; A solid choice for a beer (if you like Englsih beers) and some pub grub, but we weren't that impressed with the food. The macaroni and cheese lack substance and flavor. The scotch egg was just OK. Good service.

This place is a little slice of Shepard's Pie that would put a smile on Churchill's face. The atmosphere is so English that you would swear that you were just off Piccadilly Circus having a nice pint of Bass. The local crowd is very friendly here and our waiter was simply outstanding in his charm and professionalism. I know that bartenders and waiters often hate to charge someone's iPhone, but he was eager to accommodate my request, having purchased a portable charger for just such occasions. Although we didn't get a chance to try the food, I did notice that this little pub has a featured special for each day of the week; such as Shepard's Pie on Tuesday and fish and chips on Wednesday.....or is it the other way around? I would love to see how many people I can stuff into their English phone booth, but the management has wisely placed the bar's sound system controls in this iconic feature. Oh, well I will have to be satisfied with a cold pint and maybe some fish and chips the next time I return... After all, it is closer than England. "God save the Queen

First visit under the new management. Good chance it will be my last even though it is right around the corner. The food (fish and chips, chicken vole au vent) were okay, nothing remotely special. I'm fairly certain I could recreate the vole au vent with a box of instant mashed potatoes, a can of cream of chicken soup and a biscuit. But what really made it unlikely that I will come back was the service. It took more than 45 minutes for the kitchen to put out these two dishes! There were two other tables in the restaurant, both of which had finished their meals and had the plates cleared by the time we walked in. The waiter blamed it on a busy bar crowd, and although it was a Friday evening, I had a ringside seat to the service counter and there wasn't that much food going out, literally maybe 20 sandwiches at the absolute most. Didn't help matters that the waiter didn't say anything about how long we had been waiting; I had to bring it up at the 35-minute mark. Our attempt to pay our bill earned another demerit. The place apparently has one register and one of the barside waitresses was insisting on ringing out a multi-card, let's-get-separate-checks bill, arguing with the waiter who was trying to salvage our evening by ringing through our much simpler bill. Clearly under the new management, this establishment has neither the staff nor the equipment to handle both a bar business and a restaurant.

I guess English pubs are not my scene, because I wasn't impressed with this place. Went on a Tuesday night for trivia. It's fairly small, with a majority of bar height tables, a few regular height tables, and a plump couch near the door. Sat at a bar height table right in front of the door, and it took forever to flag down a server, which was odd. But after finally getting a menu, nothing looked appealing. One person in the group ordered the prawns, which came with the shells on, legs/eyes and everything. I declined to try them. I haven't been to trivia in years, but found the questions to be pretty hard. Sadly, I won't care to return here.

This place used to be the bomb! They had bangers and mash that I would have stepped over my own Mother to get. Best I have had in this country. Unfortunately, over the past year or so, something has gone terribly wrong with the food. I've been there twice in the last couple of months and have been shocked by how bad the food and service have become. A couple of months ago I had the bangers and mash: the sausages were WAY past their prime (you know that sour taste that cured meat gets when it sits too long in the fridge?) and the gravy that had once blown my mind now tasted like it came straight from a can. I went again this weekend and simply ordered the curry chips with my beer. They were overly mushy and sad, the curry gravy was weak and runny, and the bartender poured a second beer into my first before I had finished the first. Charged me for two beers while I only got one and a half. Normally I would not write a bad review based on getting shorted a half a beer (really just a third) but with how badly the food quality has declined here, I am super disappointed. I really want to love this place, but until they get back the magic they had going on those first couple of years, I'm done.

This place is a local favorite of ours. Dog friendly and great patio. Always a special available, when we went, they were going over a new menu. Great traditional English fare. Staff is always friendly and have been there forever. Soccer friendly bar. Worth the trip

Eeek. This place wasn't great before the new owners and it has gone significantly downhill under the new ownership. Really tasteless and overpriced salad, so so burger, meh beer selection, very slow kitchen even when the crowd was not big.

Went here for happy hour and appetizers. So-so on the appetizers and nothing noteworthy since it is average. Same with beers, but their house cocktail was very good. Place is old and used to be a diner a long time ago. Nice experience but won't be coming back any time soon.
